Liturgy
Duties of a Lector: Arrive at church 15 minutes before mass starts. Take a seat near the front to make it easier to reach the ambo. Gather at the main entrance 5 minutes before mass for a gathering prayer and, when there are no altar servers, to begin the procession into the church. There are 2 readers at each mass, each with slightly different duties. When there are no altar servers, the lectors have specific duties for the procession into the church and for the recessional out of the church. Proclaim the readings and the Prayers of the Faithful at the ambo.
Duties of a Eucharistic Minister: Arrive at the church 15 minutes before mass starts. There are 3 Eucharistic Ministers for each mass, one for the Body of Christ and two for the Blood of Christ. Five minutes before mass starts gather at the main entrance for a gathering prayer. When there are no altar servers, the ministers of the Blood of Christ carry the candles in the procession into the church and in the recessional out of the church. When there are no altar servers, the Ministers of the Blood of Christ have additional duties at the Collection time. All three ministers assist at the distribution of Communion. The Ministers of the Blood of Christ consume any remnants left in their chalice before leaving the altar area. After mass, the Ministers of the Blood of Christ purify the chalices used, in the sacristy.
Duties of an Usher: Arrive at the church 15 minutes before mass to welcome people as they arrive. Five minutes before mass, gather at the main entrance for a gathering prayer. There are 3 ushers for each mass, and as the procession begins, 2 ushers remain at the main entrance and one usher returns to the side entrance. They remain at the entrances until after the Gospel has been proclaimed to welcome those arriving after mass has started. One usher is designated to get 2 people from the congregation to bring up the gifts. Ushers take up the collection and accompany the gift bearers to the front of the church, where the priest receives the collection and the bread and wine. Before the end of mass, the ushers return to their stations to hand out the bulletins to the departing congregation.

CATHOLIC WOMEN LEAGUE
The Catholic Women’s League of Canada is a national organization rooted in gospel values calling its members to holiness through service to the people of God.
The Catholic Women’s League of Canada was founded in 1921 and the women of Our Lady of Victory Memorial Parish joined this national organization on January 19, 1947 with 70 women in attendance at the inaugural meeting. These women were the “Charter” members.
Over the years the Council has been involved in many projects and today we still have a strong commitment to carry out the aims and objectives of the Catholic Women’s League.
As of the last few years we have transitioned to a Prayer Council and continue to support the needs of our parish, school and community.
To learn more about the League and explore the joys of membership, visit www.cwl.ca or check the bulletin board at the church entrance.
